Pratobello Law, Todde: «No shortcuts, we are the legislators»
The President of the Region on the popular proposal against energy speculation, driven by a wave of over 210 thousand signatures: «I have collected the concerns of the supporters but the institutions have a role»Suitable areas, Pratobello law 24 against wind invasion , healthcare and budget adjustment: these are the issues discussed at the Campo Largo majority summit that just ended.
Governor Alessandra Todde was present. In addition to describing the Council's maxi amendment on the suitable areas bill (three variations already anticipated by Industry Councillor Emanuele Cani), answering reporters' questions, she also touched on the popular initiative proposal for which the verification of the 210 thousand signatures collected has already begun in the offices of the Regional Council.
" I have collected the concerns of the many people who have signed the initiative, I have also met them on many occasions, including a few days ago in Oristano", he began, "the issue is to distinguish the role of the institutions: those who propose a proposal for a popular initiative show fears and the concern of wanting to defend their territory. The institutions must act as institutions: we are a Board and a Council that have been legitimately elected and therefore must do the task that was assigned to them by the citizens during the elections".
In order to be included in the Regional Council institution, Pratobello's proposal needed only ten thousand signatures. The signatures have exceeded two hundred and ten thousand and now the proposal has effectively arrived in the Legislative Assembly. Todde adds, however: " It is important to differentiate this: we will obviously listen to the concerns, we will collect them within the law that we are proposing, but it is right that legislators act as legislators and interpret the will considering that they have been legitimately elected."
And on the possibility of an emergency procedure for Pratobello: "There can be no shortcuts to the extent that the signatures must be verified. President Comandini said that an ordinary procedure will be followed . As it should be. It is unthinkable that the laws of the Executive and the Council pass through the commissions and an important law of popular initiative follows shortcuts. It is a law that absolutely must follow the correct procedure and above all must be compared with an existing law that is being developed at this time, which is that of the Executive and the Council, which absolutely goes in the same direction".
