A meeting was held today between trade unions and the Region of Sardinia, on the situation of Portosvesme srl , which two weeks ago announced its intention to stop the zinc production line by next 31 December, if there is no drop in energy prices. . The company's decision will impact approximately 500 workers.

"The Region - declared the regional councilor for Industry, Anita Pili, who together with the councilor for Labor, Alessandra Zedda, spoke this morning with the company's Rsu and the trade unions - is committed to supporting the companies affected by the crisis, now more affected by the difficulties linked to expensive energy , such as Portovesme srl. The increase in energy costs generates a new economic problem, but also a social one ".

Pili then underlined the need to quickly find a solution to this emergency situation and at the same time a prospect for the continuity of industrial production, in order to be able to protect employment.

Zedda and Pili also expressed their willingness to ask the ministries of economic development and ecological transition to immediately activate a technical table.

The next meeting, which will also be open to the representatives of Portovesme, has been set for next week. Governor Christian Solinas may also be present.

At the end of the face to face, the unions expressed satisfaction, maintaining a prudent position: "We take note - explained Emanuele Madeddu, general secretary of Filctem Cgil of South Western Sardinia - of the commitment of the Region towards the government, but we hope that there are immediate answers and concrete facts. It is a delicate moment in which it is important that there is maximum unity and that is the collaboration not only of the Sardinian parliamentarians, but also of the other Regions that have problems similar to Sardinia on the energy front. that must be resolved with the utmost urgency ".
