Pisacane calls for a Cagliari side with a 4-man defense: Bologna's Posch is the idea.

"I'd like to play with a back four, to get as close as possible to Cagliari's history."
Fabio Pisacane said this yesterday in a press conference following the last-gasp 1-1 draw against Fiorentina: a clear indication of the end of the transfer window, which closes next Monday at 8:00 PM, meaning the possibility of completing the defensive line so as not to be left with only Luperto, Mina, and Obert (plus Deiola, who has been adapted) as central defenders. In this regard, the name that stands out is Stefan Posch: born in 1997, from Bologna, with whom negotiations for Nadir Zortea were finalized last week . The deal isn't yet at an advanced stage, but compared to the names that have been circulating in recent weeks ( Frosinone's Ilario Monterisi and Tigre's Martín Ortega being the main ones), he's now moving up the list of targets.
The Austrian is a central defender who can also play on the right flank. After two excellent seasons at Bologna between 2022 and 2024, scoring six goals in their first Serie A campaign followed by 31 appearances in the Champions League qualification year, he found less playing time under Vincenzo Italiano and in February moved on loan to Atalanta, where he was hampered by a muscle injury. He returned to Bologna, but no longer a starter, and was on the bench on Saturday against Roma.
Posch's acquisition would join that of Marco Palestra, a 2005-born Atalanta full-back arriving on loan (as announced yesterday in the pre-match press conference by sporting director Guido Angelozzi). He could then be followed by another defender (left full-back, a position where the only player currently available is Riyad Idrissi ). In attack, Roberto Piccoli began his medical with Fiorentina this morning.
