The celebration continues, with a welcome return to Italy following their triumph in Bangkok. Anna Danesi, captain of the Italian national volleyball team that yesterday became world champion by beating Turkey in a splendid final , was the first to emerge from Gate 8 of Arrivals B at Malpensa Airport, a few minutes after 3:00 PM. The rest of the team joined her, with Sardinian Alessia Orro at the forefront: the twenty-seven-year-old from Narbolia was named tournament MVP and best setter .

A huge smile, clutching the World Cup, greeted Orro and her teammates with over 200 fans chanting "Italy, Italy!" A floral tribute, then a hug from the fans, amid chants of dedication to coach Julio Velasco (who denied any plans to leave the Italian volleyball team), and Myriam Sylla's emotion: "You never get used to this kind of affection. Thank you!"

Alessia Orro is now enjoying a few days of rest in Sardinia, where she should be celebrated in "her" Narbolia, as happened a year ago after her Olympic triumph in Paris. Then, she'll begin her new adventure with Fenerbahçe, in Turkey, perhaps as early as Friday: it will be her first experience abroad, after wrapping up a five-year stint with Pro Victoria .
