Napoli-Cagliari will be played on Friday at 20:45, the last match of the rossoblù in this Serie A, together with Como-Inter. The League Council has just decided, having met this morning at 9, the day after the championship round that postponed the discussion for the title . The reason for the advance is linked to the possibility of a play-off to assign the victory of the championship, given that Napoli and Inter (currently separated by one point, in favor of the Neapolitans) could end up tied.

The possibility of a play-off would occur in the event of a Cagliari victory in Naples and a draw between Como and Inter . In that case, it would be a one-off match on neutral ground (presumably Monday evening) at the Olimpico in Rome, because the Lega Serie A does not believe that the conditions are right to play it at the Meazza (it would have priority if there were no potential public order problems).

For Cagliari it will be a match with no more classification objectives. Yesterday's 3-0 victory over Venezia closed the salvation issue in style with a day to spare , as in the last season with Claudio Ranieri. A fact, the latter, immediately highlighted by Davide Nicola in the press conference immediately after the match . While for Napoli the challenge will have an incalculable value, given that with a victory Antonio Conte's team ( who yesterday drew 0-0 in Parma, remaining in the lead at +1 due to the 2-2 of Inter-Lazio with the Biancoceleste equaliser in the 90th minute on a penalty awarded to the VAR ) would be champion.

The rest of the calendar for the last day of Serie A has been decided: the matches Atalanta-Parma, Empoli-Verona, Lazio-Lecce, Torino-Roma, Udinese-Fiorentina and Venezia-Juventus will be played simultaneously on Sunday at 20:45, for the race to avoid relegation and the race for European cups. The remaining two, Bologna-Genoa and Milan-Monza, will have a single block as they no longer have classification objectives: respectively on Saturday at 18:00 and Saturday at 20:45.
