Municipal councils in Cagliari, center-right on Alessandra Zedda but Chessa is there: «Ready to run for mayor»
Coalition oriented on the former councilor, the sardista remains on track. And the Psd'Az could end up breaking with its alliesPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
Gianni Chessa is ready to be a mayoral candidate in Cagliari. The outgoing regional councilor, head of Tourism in Christian Solinas' council for five years, said it in the episode of "Face to Face" on Radiolina. "If I became mayor, I would make the largest parking plan ever conceived", announced the exponent of the Psd'Az, the most voted of the centre-right in the elections of 25 February with 5,779 preferences, third on the island after Desirè Manca (M5s ) and Giuseppe Meloni (Pd).
Alessandra Zedda's candidacy
Chessa's candidacy was proposed yesterday by the Psd'Az at the coalition table, from which five names in total came out: the Reformers indicated Franco Meloni; Sardinia at the centre/venti20 has focused on Alessandro Balletto; Forza Italia proposed Edoardo Tocco.
Then the candidacy of Alessandra Zedda emerged, on a collision course with the blue party and considered close to the League. Even if his name was floated by the centrist part of the coalition.
Risk of breakage of the Psd'Az
In these hours, Zedda's name has even ended up at the top of the list of eligible candidates. Chessa on Radiolina slowed down: "Alessandra is a friend - he said - but nothing has been decided". And if he slows down on the hypothesis, the Psd'Az could raise a wall in these hours: what the Four Moors didn't like was the way in which the name of the former councilor was proposed, which emerged at the end of the coalition meeting in Oristano and neither made by the representatives of the League present. There has been a convergence of various parties, but if the allies were to insist, a rupture is looming in these hours: the Psd'Az could leave the coalition and leave the territorial realities (therefore also Sassari and Alghero, where there is a summary on the Rector Gavino Mariotti and Marco Tedde) are free to decide who to dialogue with, without constraints on sides. Translated: the option of an agreement with the center-left would reopen. But this could also be an argument to up the ante on Cagliari.
The analysis
With his gaze turned towards the Regionals, Chessa explained that it was "right not to nominate Christian Solinas, because there were problems". The Sardinian representative did not specify them, but when asked if the investigations against the outgoing governor had anything to do with them, the councilor did not go into details and limited himself to reiterating that Solinas' second run was not appropriate.
The former Sardinian councilor, in reference to the internal structures in the Quattro Mori, ready to go to congress in the next few weeks, claimed to be in favor of a change at the top. In the Psd'Az, Solinas is the outgoing national secretary: «He has qualities. But when you lose, as in all parties, you can change. The important thing is to have a ready team." And it doesn't mean that there is now.
