"I have stage four cancer and I have months left to live."

This is the dramatic revelation made by Michela Murgia during an interview with Aldo Cazzullo, published by Corriere della Sera.

The 50-year-old writer from Cabras explained that she was suffering from kidney cancer , from which, unfortunately, "there is no turning back".

«I am being treated with immunotherapy based on biopharmaceuticals – he adds – it stimulates the response of the immune system. The goal is not to eradicate evil, it's late, but to buy time».

"Doesn't death seem like an injustice to you?" the interviewer asks her. And the writer replies: «No. I'm fifty years old, but I've lived ten lives. I've done things that the vast majority of people don't do in their entire lives. Things I didn't know I wanted. I have precious memories."

Murgia also talks about his latest book, "Three bowls", where there is much autobiographical. And he talks about Sardinia, his land.

«I think in Sardinian and translate into Italian. They are two different Micheles, one Sardinian and one Italian», she says. And he underlines: « Italy and Sardinia are also two different things. For you, Sardinia is the island of holidays. You don't realize that there is a military base every 150 kilometres, because they interrupt shooting so as not to disturb the tourists. The other day I was at the botanical garden in Trastevere. The person who was with me was startled by the bang of the Janiculum cannon. I do not. We Sardinians are used to the noise of war».

The author also tells how she is facing this moment: " I bought a house, with ten beds" . A home to stay with what he defines as "my queer family ", or rather "an atypical family nucleus, in which relationships matter more than roles".

And then the wedding . «Do you marry a man or a woman?» asks Cazzullo. Answer: « A man. But it could have been a woman . In taking care of each other we have never made gender issues ».

Aren't you afraid of death? "No - assures Murgia - I only hope to die when Giorgia Meloni is no longer prime minister ", because "his is a fascist government".

Finally, when asked how she would like to be remembered, the writer replies: « Remember me as you please. I never thought of showing myself different than I am to please someone . The important thing for me now is not to die a fascist».
