Meloni: "I and other ministers have been charged with complicity in genocide. Infiltrators at the demonstrations? A simplistic theory."

"Minister Tajani, Crosetto, and Leonardo CEO Roberto Cingolani have been reported to the International Criminal Court for complicity in genocide. I now believe there is no other case in the world or in history of such a complaint."
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said this during a guest appearance on Bruno Vespa's Cinque minuti, broadcast this evening on Rai1.
"The theory of infiltrators at the demonstrations is reductive."
"I have great respect for the demonstrations," he added, referring to the protests in support of the people of Gaza and the Global Sumud Flotilla mission. "I've organized countless of them. The violence was organized and pre-planned, not by those who organized it, but is a somewhat broader phenomenon. One of the leading banners praised the terror of October 7th. When those who praise Hamas terrorism are allowed to lead the march, perhaps the theory of mere infiltrators is a bit reductive. But I have great respect for the people who took to the streets for a heartfelt issue."
"The CGIL is more interested in defending the left than workers."
As for the criticism of the "long weekend," "I wasn't particularly harsh on the strike. I just said what I think, which is that it was specious. In the 10 years" of the left's government, the CGIL called "six general strikes, in the three years" of its government "four general strikes. It does so while employment and wages are increasing and job insecurity is decreasing, and it does so on foreign policy, a unique occurrence in the union's history." It was, Meloni reiterates, a "specious" strike because it's clear that the CGIL "is much more interested in defending the left than the workers."
"The climate is barbaric, I can't count the death threats anymore."
"I fear a climate that is becoming significantly more barbaric," he continued. "Italy has already been through this. I see so many things that we're starting to take for granted, and they're not. I no longer count the death threats, I don't even have time to report them. And I think there are responsibilities, for example, from those who say I have blood on my hands, that I and this government are complicit in genocide. I'm someone who knows how to navigate political conflict, but we're starting to experience something different, and I think those who thought they could stir up the streets are underestimating themselves. Be careful, because then things get out of hand ."
"Colle? I'm Prime Minister, that's enough for me."
Responding to those, like Matteo Renzi, who claim his ambition is to go to the Quirinal, "the problem is with those who have spent their whole lives wondering what office they should hold and think everyone is like them: I think differently, I'm serving as Prime Minister, I can assure you that that's more than enough for me ."
"Waiting lists? 1 million more procedures in 7 months."
Meloni then spoke about healthcare: "According to our findings, in the first seven months of this year, one million more procedures were performed" than in 2024. "If we continue at this pace, by the end of the year there will be two million more procedures, which means things are starting to work better ."
"This year too, you can ask the banks for help."
Regarding the possible intervention on the banks in the budget, " we already did it last year. I have no intention of punishing the banking system, which is an asset to the nation. I'm confident that a solution can be found this year too, because some people have been able to count on a better scenario, partly thanks to what politicians have done. However, there are Italians who still need to be secured, and I think we can ask the banks for help, "like last year."
