The match between Porto Torres and Civitas Tempio, of the Under 17 allievi championship, was interrupted last Sunday at the 69th minute with the score at 3-2 for the home team, who had the victory by default. This is because, according to the press release, the referee (a girl) " deemed she could not continue in the direction of the match " and sent the teams to the locker rooms after a player from the visiting team was sent off for insulting her. But the report shows much more, so much so that the Sports Judge - in addition to the 3-0 defeat - fined Civitas Tempio 300 euros for objective liability and banned the manager Massimo Mundula (assistant referee during the match) until February 26, 2025 for "serious insulting and threatening conduct carried out after the suspension of the match". A reconstruction that the club disputes, while admitting the facts that led to the expulsion.
"I believe it is right to apologize to the referee, on behalf of myself, the club and the boy who used an outrageous and offensive phrase," declared the president of Civitas Tempio Salvatore Scano. "Then, however, we were surprised by the sentence: the match was suspended because, according to the referee, there was no longer the minimum number of players. In reality, we were seven due to previous expulsions for fouls, protests and a double warning." According to the reconstruction of Civitas Tempio, the moment of discussion arose because the Porto Torres players asked for the interruption due to the lack of the minimum number (up to seven players are allowed to play).
The club rejects the accusations of kicks and punches towards the referee's dressing room door, as well as other threatening and insulting phrases made after the suspension: "We are not aware of them", replies the president . "None of this happened, on the contrary: we heard discussions between the referee and the tutor, which we will report in the appeal. I hope that everything that happened will be better represented and appropriate sanctions will be given, we appeal to the referee's conscience to get justice: it is an image that we do not deserve for our history and for what happened on the pitch".
There will therefore be a further chapter in the story: «The sentence expresses a devastating situation for the company», Scano continues. « We are not terrorists, for 35 years we have been noticed for a socio-educational work even before a sporting one . It pains us twice: once for the boy's gesture and the other because the sentence gives an image of the match and of our company that does not correspond to the truth. Also because the referee had told us that it was suspended for lack of the minimum number of players. We did not expect this sentence: we will appeal not so much to evaluate technical issues, but to have the need to understand what was written and why the Sports Judge gave this evaluation. Apart from the boy's mistake, which we condemn, the rest does not represent what happened and damages the image of a company that has distinguished itself over the years ».
