It is "an emotion" for the former Minister of the Interior Roberto Maroni to return to the Interior Ministry, this time as president of the Consulta against illegal hiring. And he assured that his appointment was not a provocation against the leader of the Lega Matteo Salvini.

He was chosen by the Minister of the Interior Luciana Lamorgese, for some time in the crosshairs of the secretary of the Carroccio (who has repeatedly asked for his resignation) for the management of public order and immigration.

With her "I wanted to speak directly", explained Maroni, "who assured me that there is nothing behind it that goes beyond my competences".

"I think I have the right qualifications for this position", said the former minister, who recalled that he had already dealt with illegal hiring and illegal work when he headed the labor and interior departments.

The former president of the Lombardy Region then reiterated forcefully: "I am a Northern League player and I will stay in the League as long as I play".

He also declared that he also recognized himself in the current League which, although with a national vocation, "has not abandoned the demands of the North".

However, he criticized the party's choices regarding the municipal elections in Rome and Milan, admitting that the center-left candidates were better: "Gualtieri and Sala were more solid than their opponents".
