The two-time winner of Sanremo   He was awarded in the council chamber of the town hall by Mayor Elisa Farris and her entire cabinet. There, he also received the keys to the town, in recognition of his high artistic achievements. "This recognition," said the mayor, " seals the artist's deep connection to Orosei and Sardinia, the places where he grew up and which he has always promoted through his music around the world.   This is a sign of profound respect and gratitude for his significant contribution to Italian music, and for his strong connection to the town of Orosei, a place of inspiration for the renowned singer-songwriter who reached the heights of undisputed and deserved success. We believe that the awarding of honorary citizenship is a symbolic gesture of great value, capable of strengthening the sense of belonging and cultural identity. Alessandro Mahmoud is a prominent figure in the national and international music scene, and the conferral of this honor is a source of pride for the entire Orosei community.

The singer, born in Milan in 1992, has a visceral bond with the town of Baronise: not only because it is the birthplace of his mother, Anna Frau, who was present at the ceremony and gave him a huge hug . He spends a lot of time here with his family and has written several of the songs that made him famous: such as "Brividi," the song with which he won Sanremo with Blanco in 2022 , but also "Tuta Gold," with which he came in sixth in 2024 and which was the most streamed Italian single in the world that year .

"These places," Mahmoud said, "have always been incredibly important to me: Sardinia represents my second home, my childhood, my family, and my fondest summer memories. This is where I find myself, the place that keeps me grounded and the source of the inspiration that led me to write many of my songs. I never thought I'd one day receive this honor, an even more tangible symbol of the affection I feel every time I return to Orosei."
