Weapons and ammunition were found in the possession of a 43-year-old pastor who was arrested. The operation was conducted by the Carabinieri of the Messina Centro Company.

The military carried out a thorough search of the suspect's house and in his car, recovering a 16-gauge shotgun with abraded serial number, a revolver in poor condition, a "paper bomb" type handcrafted device, 2 sidearms of considerable size, 3,600 cartridges of various calibers and about 2 kilos of gunpowder.

To hide the material, the shepherd had created a kind of bunker in the cellar closed with various padlocks. A shotgun with buckshot shots was in the fold.
