A new appeal process for the Bianchi brothers who on the evening of 6 September 2020 beat Willy Monteiro Duarte to death in Colleferro , a center in the province of Rome. The second appeal will be limited to the generic mitigating circumstances, recognized in the first appeal process and decisive for bringing the sentence from the life sentence imposed in the first instance to 24 years .

The decision of the judges of the Supreme Court is therefore not good news for the Bianchi brothers, who risk life imprisonment again .

The Court of Cassation also declared final the sentences of 23 years for Francesco Belleggia and 21 years for Mario Pincarelli , the other two of the pack that attacked Willy. Criminal responsibility for voluntary homicide was recognized for all defendants.

The request of the Attorney General was therefore accepted. The representative of the prosecution had requested the annulment of the first appeal sentence because the two brothers «were aware of the consequences of their extremely violent blows, inflicted with MMA fighting techniques against vital points, on a particularly thin body like that of Willy », said the deputy general prosecutor Marco Dall'Olio asking for the revocation of the extenuating circumstances.

During the beating, underlined the Deputy Attorney General of the Court of Cassation, «Willy receives at least two potentially fatal blows, after the first blow he manages to get up but again he is hit again for another 40-50 seconds of madness».

" I have not yet seen any sign of repentance from these boys which shows that they have understood the harm they have done to my son ," commented Lucia Duarte, Willy's mother.
