Two files have been opened for ill -treatment in Modena after two newborns , aged around five months, were admitted to the local general hospital . For the little ones, the consequences of heavy shaking are evident, perhaps to make them stop crying.

One of the two newborns also suffered brain damage .

As explained by Professor Lorenzo Iughetti, director of the Polyclinic's Pediatrics, and as reported by the local press, the cause of the trauma is attributable to the so-called "shaken baby syndrome" : «You never shake a baby - explains Iughetti - for a baby the they are like dozens of rear-end collisions that an adult suffers in a car. The baby stops crying, but stops crying because he's actually gone into a coma," he concludes.

The investigations are underway , the minors have in the meantime been removed from their parents .
