The investigation by the Rome Prosecutor's Office continues into the alleged crimes in the Anas contracts (including one costing 180 million euros for the renovation of tunnels), which also involves Tommaso Verdini, son of the former parliamentarian Denis, who ended up under house arrest .

The prosecutors hypothesize the crimes of bid rigging and corruption and the affair immediately triggered harsh political reactions.

The opposition is in fact asking the Minister of Infrastructure and Deputy Prime Minister, Matteo Salvini - whose partner is Tommaso Verdini's sister - to report to Parliament. In fact, from the investigation emerges an interception in which Fabio Pileri, who together with Verdini junior managed the Inver company which, according to the Prosecutor's Office, some entrepreneurs approached to obtain, in exchange for benefits, part of the rich orders, where there is talk of an "agreement with the League for future collaboration."

«We ask for urgent information from Minister Salvini - said Federico Cafiero de Rhao (M5s) - to report on the consultancy and public procurement system announced by Anas, investigations which involved Tommaso Verdini. What the Rome prosecutor's office is ascertaining is very serious."

For Debora Serracchiani (Pd) «the judicial matter will take its course, but no one from the government has yet denied what appears in the articles. There is a need to provide transparency."

Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani replies for the government: «Should Salvini report to the chamber? He will decide. What do we want to do now with Salvini's trial in the Chamber? We have always been guaranteeists, until there is a definitive conviction, the presumption of innocence applies".
