A breakthrough in the investigation into the death of two-year-old Beatrice in Bordighera.

Manuel Iannuzzi, 42, the partner of the mother of the child who died on February 9, was arrested this morning.

The man is accused of aggravated child abuse resulting in the little girl's death.

The youngest of three daughters, her father imprisoned, the little girl was the daughter of Manuela Aiello, 43, who had begun a relationship with another man. On the morning of February 9th, her mother called her alone at home with her three daughters: "She's not breathing anymore." Emergency responders immediately noticed the bruises on her body and called the Carabinieri and the coroner, who confirmed that she had died several hours earlier.

So the mother is taken to the barracks and after a long interrogation, ends up in prison.

The autopsy later confirmed injuries to the back, abdomen, legs, and lips, as well as a head trauma that caused a cerebral hemorrhage, the cause of death.

The woman denied the incident, referring to a fall down the stairs that had occurred days earlier. She never implicated her new partner, but investigators discovered that Manuela Aiello and her three daughters had spent the night at Iannuzzi's house, and that the woman was caught on camera driving home with the girls. Beatrice was in that car; she was already dead, six hours before the call for help.

Today, a new breakthrough occurred with Iannuzzi's arrest. In addition to the CCTV footage, traces of blood in his home were crucial. Manuela Aiello was also issued a similar pre-trial detention order in prison.
