Two carabinieri lost their lives following a frightening accident that occurred during the night between Saturday and Sunday in the province of Salerno.

Three vehicles were involved, along State Road 91, between Eboli and Campagna.

The two soldiers - Marshal Francesco Pastore, 25 years old, and the selected officer Francesco Ferraro, 27 years old, both of Apulian origin - were on board a patrol car, which collided - due to circumstances to be clarified - with a Range Rover, which in turn, after the impact, ended up against a third car.

After the alarm, the firefighters and emergency service personnel intervened on the scene, but attempts to save the lives of the two carabinieri were in vain.

Four people were injured in the impact, including a third carabiniere , who were taken to area hospitals. Some are in a reserved prognosis.

The police have started investigations to reconstruct the causes and dynamics of the tragedy.
