Tragedy in Abruzzo: Woman from Furtei dies crushed by a welder

Tragedy in Abruzzo, where a woman of Sardinian origin – Balbina Pinna, 74 years old – died following a domestic accident.

According to a reconstruction of the tragedy, which occurred in Castel di Sangro, in the province of L'Aquila , the woman – from Furtei , but who had been living in Abruzzo for years – was crushed by an old welding machine while she and her husband were moving some tools inside an abandoned carpentry shop.

After the alarm, local press reports, the firefighters and 118 personnel arrived on site and the elderly woman – who appeared to be in serious condition – was urgently transferred to the emergency room in Sulmona.

After being admitted to hospital, her condition worsened and the 74-year-old unfortunately passed away.

The Carabinieri of the Castel di Sangro company are investigating the incident.
