"The coffins of Bergamo are in Covid as the lake of the Duchess is in the kidnapping of Moro." There is a storm over the denial tweet (written and then removed) by Tommaso Montesano, son of the actor Enrico and journalist of the newspaper "Libero".

For the uninitiated, during the kidnapping of Moro a false statement from the BR said that the body of the politician was immersed in the lake of the Duchess. After days of in vain searches, it turned out that it was just a way to sidetrack the investigation and waste valuable time.

Already some time ago Montesano had said that he was a Covid "denier", but he contested this definition for his father, known as no vax and no Green pass.

The position of the Libero newspaper, where Montesano is editor of the Politico, lasts. Director Alessandro Sallusti asked the company "to assess whether there are grounds for a dismissal", speaking of a "fake that offends our newspaper and editorial staff".

The CDR of the newspaper, on the other hand, "dissociates itself from the interventions with which a colleague essentially denies a correlation between the symbolic photo of the coffins in Bergamo and Covid. And apologizes to the families of the tens of thousands of people who lost their lives in cause of the pandemic. You may have the most different ideas about vaccines and the Green Pass, but the denial theories are as far removed from the values of the Libero journalists ".

Criticisms and requests for removal from the register of journalists arrived on social networks and from the most disparate political parties, while the mayor of Bergamo Giorgio Gori announced a lawsuit saying that "the mark has been passed".

THE DEFENSE - As often happens in such cases, Montesano claims to have been "seriously misunderstood"

"My thought - he explained - was a simple parallelism, expressed in an icastic but evidently unfortunate way, between the symbolic strength of Bergamo's military trucks, which had the merit of opening the eyes of even the most skeptics who denied the gravity of the pandemic, and the images of the search for the body of the honorable Moro in the lake of the Duchess which, according to historical reconstructions, convinced public opinion to accept the inevitability of Moro's destiny. Basically, I wanted to underline the evocative power of two symbolic images. I never intended to offend the memory of the victims or relatives. Nor, even less, contest the reliability of the event ".
