Three precautionary custody measures in prison were carried out this morning by the Florence police against as many Chinese citizens - aged between 30 and 39, residing in the Prato area - under investigation for kidnapping.

The hypothesis examined by the investigating judge is that they kidnapped one of their compatriots for the purpose of extortion, also causing him injuries deemed curable with a 30-day prognosis.

The investigation began a year ago when a friend of the victim reported that the man, near a Chinese restaurant in the Empolese area, had been kidnapped by three men misrepresented with masks. The abductee's wife allegedly received news in China from the gang asking for the sum of 150,000 yuan (about 20,000 euros) to be paid into a credit card of a Chinese bank for his release.

The investigators of the Organized Crime Section and of the Foreign Crime Section of the Flying Squad had set out on the trail of the criminals by monitoring the movements of the people who revolved around the acquaintances of the kidnapped and thus managing to discover that the same had been released three days later in the Empolese .
