They sleep with the brazier lit: two migrants died from carbon monoxide fumes

Tragedy in a shack in the so-called "ghetto" of Borgo Mezzanone, in the province of Foggia.

Two young African migrants, a man and a woman, died of intoxication in their sleep by the fumes of carbon monoxide produced by a brazier they had lit to warm up and placed next to the bed. Two other people sleeping in the same barrack were slightly intoxicated.

The alarm was raised by some migrants present in the large settlement where over 1,500 foreigners live permanently, mainly employed in jobs in the Foggia area countryside .

When the 118 personnel arrived, they could only ascertain the death of the two migrants. The investigations are entrusted to the police. The firefighters also arrived in Borgo Mezzanone and made the entire area safe.
