Discovering that you have a sister at the age of seventy .

The incredible story connects three countries: Italy, the United Kingdom and Egypt . It all starts with Renato Labò: born in 1920, originally from Sarmato, in the province of Piacenza, he had fought in El Alamein where he was taken prisoner by the British.
Interned in a prison camp, as reported by the newspaper "Libertà", after the armistice he was allowed to start working on a farm in Horsington, Somerset where he fell in love with the owners' daughter: from their love Gin was born, but Renato had already returned to Italy because the war was over, he started a family and had another daughter, Eugenia .

When Gin had a daughter in turn, Clare, the latter decided to do everything to find her grandfather and his lineage . A very complicated research that lasted years, because there were very few elements at his disposal. Thanks to the collaboration of the archives of the International Red Cross, Clare was able to have access to the list of inmates in Camp 47 of Motcombe, to discover that only two people were called Renato: one born in Varese and one from Agazzino di Sarmato (Piacenza).

At that point she contacted the Facebook page of the inhabitants of Sarmato, thanks to which she was addressed to Eugenia Labò who, in front of the only surviving photo, immediately recognized her father's face . Gin and Eugenia had to meet for two years but the pandemic delayed the appointment. Now they have finally seen each other and spent a week together in Piacentino, starting with a big party in a trattoria, together with the mayor of Calendasco Filippo Zangrandi.
