They pocketed the citizenship income thanks to false documents created ad hoc of entitled persons: over 50 people were thus denounced by the State Police.
The agents have identified a real gang that sent foreigners to the post offices in Milan to pocket, in disguise, the emolument.
People who had Italian citizenship but did not know how to speak Italian to the point of making the operators at the counters suspicious. This is how the Postal Police started the investigation.
Foreigners from Romania, Austria and Germany showed up at post offices sent by a sort of network that hired them.
The investigation, coordinated by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office and the Rome Postal and Communications Police Service, began in September 2020 and also led to the arrest of two subjects found in possession of false documents, to the execution of eight searches and the discovery of prepaid cards, receipts for submitting the application for citizenship income, as well as messages that the interested parties exchanged via chat to arrange travel and stay in the area.
