The weekly incidence of coronavirus cases continues to increase in Italy. According to the data of the weekly monitoring by Iss-Ministry of Health, between 26 November and 2 December there were 155 per 100 thousand inhabitants compared to 125 in the previous period.

Between 10 and 23 November, the mean Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was instead equal to 1.20 (range 1.12 - 1.28), above the epidemic threshold but down compared to 1.23 in the previous week .

As for intensive care, the occupancy rate read by Covid patients is 7.3 percent, as of December 2, up from 6.2% last week (November 25). In the medical area, the rate rises to 9.1% (as of yesterday) against 8.1% (as at 25 November).

In addition, the number of new cases not associated with transmission chains increased, reaching 30,966 against 23,971 in the previous week. The percentage of cases detected through contact tracing activities decreased slightly from 34 percent to 33. Finally, the percentage of cases detected through the appearance of symptoms remained stable at 45%, while the percentage of cases diagnosed through screening activities was increasing (22% compared to 21%).
