The Milan Public Prosecutor's Office has asked for the investigation to be filed on the elderly who died at the Pio Albergo Trivulzio, a historic Milanese 'baggina', in the first wave of Covid in the early months of 2020.

"No evidence of negligent or in any case irregular conduct, causally relevant to individual deaths, with regard to the assistance provided," wrote the Milanese prosecutors in the request for dismissal. Indeed, "with regard to individual cases, no evidence of specific deficiencies has been ascertained, other than general critical issues" regarding the "protective or containment measures" of Covid "that may with likelihood have affected the contagion". In essence, according to the prosecutors, there is no proof of the "causal link" between deaths and conduct in the RSA.

"The decision of the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office - explains Alessandro Azzoni, president of the Felicita Association which brings together relatives - finds us totally embittered but not surprised". According to the association, the demand for "truth and justice" was "evaded by the prosecutor (and not only)".

The prosecutors also asked for the filing of all other similar proceedings relating to deaths in the Milanese RSA.

In the investigation, former CEO Giuseppe Calicchio, in addition to the structure itself, is being investigated for manslaughter, culpable epidemic and violation of the rules on safety in the workplace.

"Right from the start, with confidence - explained Azzoni - the Felicita association for rights in RSA, formerly the Justice and Truth Committee for the victims of Trivulzio, made itself available to the investigators, collecting the testimonies of numerous family members of the patients of the structure and health workers ".

In these 18 months of investigations, is the complaint, “they never gave space to listen to any of the 150 signatories of the collective complaint presented by the Felicita Association. We have witnessed the widespread removal of the tragedy in order to cancel the conflict between the interests of the citizens directly affected and the different interests of the economic, political and institutional parties involved in various capacities in the chain of responsibility, and therefore converging in ignoring the truth through a common self-absolution narrative ".

While waiting to read the documents filed by the prosecutor, Alessandro Azzoni, "president of Felicita, will hold a press conference this week to express a more complete judgment on the filing and communicate all the actions that the association intends to implement".
