After having paid off his numerous debts to the law, Battaggia has been managing a fish shop in Spresiano for years, continuing a business started more than 40 years ago and managed for a long time with his brother, Galliano , who was shot dead by unknown assailants in his home in June 1991.

Battaggia had been Panfile's employer for a period of time, and for a few months he had been working in a welfare institution in Treviso .
