Indoor masks still mandatory for a month and a half, but not everywhere.

The government has opted for the line of prudence, given that the infections from Covid-19 do not show signs of decreasing. For this reason, the Chamber of Deputies has approved an amendment that provides for the extension of the use of masks in some areas until June 15 .

We are talking about local and long-distance transport, hospitals and health centers, rsa, cinemas, theaters, entertainment venues and live music indoors (including doscotecas), schools and indoor sports halls . In the remaining places - including bars and restaurants - the use of the device is no longer mandatory but remains recommended.

This was announced by the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza , who in the evening signed an ordinance that will act as a bridge in the time necessary for the conversion of the decree.

" The pandemic is not over and we ask to intensify the vaccination campaign with the fourth doses for over 80 and frail", added the minister, stressing that although we are still "inside" the pandemic, now "we have the tools to manage it".

"Excluding hospitals and Rsa, in all other workplaces, without distinction between public and private, the mask will only be strongly recommended ", said the Undersecretary of Health Andrea Costa who said he was "satisfied" with the result achieved. From 1 May therefore begins, even without the Green pass , "a new phase consistent with the responsibility shown by the Italians who have learned to live with the virus with great awareness".
