Dozens of injuries, including children, are the result of a collapse that occurred in the former convent of Giaccherino, in Pontelungo (Pistoia), while a wedding party was underway.

The floor of the raised room rented for the reception gave way. The guests would thus have fallen into the "chasm" created, finding themselves on the ground floor, covered by debris. Five of the people involved are now in serious condition, hospitalized under code red.

From what we understand, the accident occurred at the end of the party. Some of the guests had already left the venue, but about sixty other people, mostly young people, were still dancing.

After the alarm was raised, the firefighters and the police intervened on the spot together with the medical personnel who transported the injured to the hospitals in the area.

"At the moment there are 5 people transported to the emergency room with code red, ten with code yellow and around twenty-five people with code green", explained the mayor of Pistoia Alessandro Tomasi in a first update.

Investigations started.
