Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will not participate in the center-right rally for the Emilia Romagna Regional elections in Bologna, where she was expected in her role as president of FdI with the other leaders of the coalition.

The Prime Minister will speak via video link at the event scheduled for 5pm in support of presidential candidate Elena Ugolini.

The official reason is the continuation of the meeting with the unions on the budget, but tension in Bologna remains very high after Saturday's violence in the square with anti-fascist groups who, in an attempt to reach the far-right march, came into contact with the police.

Meanwhile, a group of representatives of Potere al Popolo gathered in Bologna, on the corner of Via del Pilastro and Via San Donato, to protest the center-right event where Deputy Prime Ministers Antonio Tajani and Matteo Salvini are expected. The event is being held at the Savoia Regency, a few hundred meters away. The Pap garrison also displayed a banner: «Meloni, Salvini, Lepore, Piantedosi: let's stop the chain of repression».
