New licenses for taxis possible in 30 days with the rules established by the Asset decree definitively approved on 5 October and for which a joint circular from the Ministry of Business, Made in Italy and Transport is expected today which will clarify the terms of how the Municipalities will have to proceed for additional licenses .

A possible solution, within the terms of the law, in just a month and which will allow an increase of up to 20% in licenses, thus stopping the increasingly frequent emergencies in numerous Italian cities, among others also Cagliari, where it has often become very difficult to find taxis .

THE RULES – The rules established by the Asset Decree concern all airport cities. For extraordinary licences, unlike in the past, no preliminary investigation is necessary before announcing the procedure as long as the increase ceiling is contained within 20% ; the cars must have a low environmental impact and the issuing of the license is for onerous purposes only with the proceeds destined 100% to compensate taxi drivers already authorized in the Municipality. The latter was an indication that the mayors had taken sides against when the legislative decree was approved, given that previously 20% of that figure had instead gone to the Municipalities.

Meanwhile, starting from Rome, the ones who are cashing in are the taxi drivers who have asked for a 3 euro increase in fares due to traffic . A request that may not remain isolated but extend to other cities .

In Cagliari, for example, there are many taxi drivers who complain about a reduction in trips made due to the long queues linked to the works underway in the city centre .

PRICESBut how much is traveling in a taxi today? This is told by the ranking reported by the Sole 24 Ore and based on the data released by the Transport Regulatory Authority (Art) in a monitoring of white cars closed on 20 April.

A ranking in which Cagliari for short journeys is placed in 14th place among the 43 locations over 100 thousand inhabitants considered , 20th and therefore approximately in the middle of the ranking for long journeys.

In Cagliari , traveling 5 km by taxi at 10 in the morning costs, according to the data collected, just under 15 euros (14.7), compared to 17.6 euros in Ferrara, the most expensive city by far, and 6.9 in Padua, the cheapest one. In Sassari , in 36th position, the cost drops to 10.8 euros.

The call-out fee can then be added to the tariffs, applied in 26% of Italian Municipalities, while the baggage surcharge is the most popular , with a diffusion in 86% of the 141 Municipalities that responded to the Art questionnaire.

For longer distances, the report considers a 10 km journey with 10 minutes of rest as a standard long journey.
