As widely expected, several Italian cities woke up in the snow this morning. Turin is whitewashed and there is a yellow alert for snow in the southern part of Piedmont and on all the plains.

At low altitude, the most significant accumulations - according to the Arpa weather service (Regional Agency for Environmental Protection) - will concern Monferrato, Asti and Alessandria, where 15-20 cm of snow can be overcome, on the others plain sectors between 5 and 15. In Turin city 5 cm are planned.

The international crossing of Colle della Maddalena, between Italy and France, is closed since 10 pm yesterday.

In Milan at 9.30 the snow was still mixed with rain and did not attack the ground, no particular inconvenience to traffic but five centimeters of snow are expected in the next few hours.

In the Pavia area, on the other hand, there was a serious accident: in Carbonara al Ticino a car went off the road and overturned. The driver, a 23-year-old, was rescued and taken to the hospital in red code.
