Max Leitner, nicknamed the “king of escapes”, is back in his cell for his numerous escapes from Italian prisons.

From what we learn, Leitner was stopped by the police in the province of Bolzano, after the alarm of a Nigerian prostitute, against whose car gunshots were exploded while she was secluded with a client.

The agents arrived at the scene and then tracked down Leitner's car, which was on board with a 59-year-old homeless Austrian citizen. Leitner - who seems to have fallen in love with the woman in some way - tried to resist, but was stopped and taken to jail. Weapons were found in the car, including a pistol and a taser.

Leitner, also known as the Vallanzasca of Alto Adige, is 63 years old and has ended up behind bars several times for some robberies committed in the 1980s. He was captured in August 1900 by the Austrian police during an assault on a security van. Then, over the years, repeated attempts to escape from the penitentiaries of Austria and Italy.

Five years ago he had been placed under house arrest and then had returned on the loose, serving his sentence. Now the new troubles with justice. The accusation is illegal carrying of arms and resistance to a public official.
