During a holiday in Sardinia with her husband and children she met a man who subjugated her to the point that, upon her return, she left her family. But that decision would later turn out to be a nightmare, full of harassment, mistreatment and sexual abuse.

Now the alleged torturer has ended up under house arrest with an electronic bracelet and on trial for mistreatment and sexual violence aggravated by mental inferiority.

The story - told by Corriere della Sera, Rome edition - has as its negative protagonist Paolo Abozzi, 58 years old, known as Magopaolo, entertainer at children's parties and hosted several times on TV.

It is reported that her husband noticed something strange about the woman as he saw her increasingly thinner, with less hair, pain and marks on her body.

Not only that: the 58-year-old would have transformed the bookshop of which the woman is a member into an activity linked to his profession as a magician.

After six months the woman managed to end the relationship and the man was arrested: he was accused of "repeated mistreatment" and manipulation of the victim, which occurred "by depriving her of sleep, administering psychotropic drugs, forcing her to engage in painful and mortifying sexual practices, using psychological and physical violence and subjecting them to a painful and intolerable lifestyle to the point that the offended person expressed suicidal intent".
