Chiara Poggi is not the girl Andrea Sempio was allegedly obsessed with, according to what emerges from an exchange of messages on a forum , the "Italian Seduction Club", which touches on the investigation currently being concluded by the Pavia Prosecutor's Office into the Garlasco crime.
This was reported by the defense of the man, the only suspect in the murder, who was summoned to appear before the prosecutor's office on Wednesday. The lawyers are also considering calling the girl as a witness in the event of a trial .
Over 3,000 messages were traced from November 7, 2009, to November 1, 2016, on the forum where 'Andreas,' his nickname, mixes fantasies, considerations on how to behave with women, and even shocking statements about rape: "Rationally a horror, but from the point of view of biology, evolution, and reproduction, (...) a practical demonstration of male strength." Among the many messages are references to the erotic-romantic trilogy 'Fifty Shades of Grey' and a quote from the late sociologist Francesco Alberoni. Regarding this, at the end of November 2010, he wrote: "The only time I fell in love, which then gave rise to a 'one itis'," a colloquial term for a sentimental obsession, "of almost two years, happened at a dark moment in my life. Between 18 and 20. No one has ever had that disruptive impact on my life."
Sempio's lawyers, Liborio Cataliotti and Angela Taccia, have also confirmed that the perpetrator is Sempio. The latter, a lifelong friend of Sempio, also claims to know the girl well and is considering calling her as a witness in the event of a trial .
Now the dilemma for Sempio and his defense team is whether or not to answer the prosecutor's questions about what happened on August 13, 19 years ago, when Chiara, according to the charges contained in the summons, was killed by the 38-year-old with at least 12 blows to her face and skull, inflicted with a blunt object that was never found . A violent attack to which she allegedly tried to fight back, triggered by the 26-year-old's refusal of a sexual approach.
Among the many issues to be clarified is the alibi of the Vigevano parking ticket , dated 10:18 a.m. on August 13th. It was strangely kept for a year and only handed over to investigators when Sempio was first investigated (and subsequently closed). At the time, that ticket was deemed compatible with the time of Chiara's death. Today, new investigations cast doubt on the true owner, both because the 38-year-old's cell phone records place him in Garlasco, not Vigevano, and because of the testimonies gathered, including that of the firefighter who was a friend of her mother.
Added to this is the forensic medical opinion entrusted to Cristina Cattaneo, which shifts the time of the young woman's death forward to between 10:30 and 12:00, with a more "consistent" estimate of 11:00 and 11:30 . This means that Sempio, even if he had been in Vigevano, would have had plenty of time to reach Garlasco. Other points to clarify include the palm print, number 33, found on the wall of the stairs leading to the cellar, the DNA under the victim's fingernails, and those silent phone calls in the days before the crime, knowing full well that her brother, her friend, was in the mountains . Finally, there could be other elements covered by the confidentiality of the preliminary investigation that will be revealed during questioning or at the close of the investigation, when the Pavia prosecutors will lay bare all the documents and, presumably, will request that Sempio be sent to trial.
"We are faced with a malicious monstrosity of Andrea Sempio, in the run-up to his interrogation. This is a fact we will take into account when deciding whether or not to have him answer ," stated Liborio Cataliotti. "This attempt to monstrosity him," he continued, "is based on his participation in a forum that has nothing to do with the murder or with the possibility of attributing to Andrea Sempio's posts a personality aligned with the hypothesis that he committed that murder."
