Sea and tourism, Romagna leads Sardinia. But the island is the best for relaxation, luxury, and sustainability.

Rimini returns to the top of the traditional rankings compiled by the JFC Italian Observatory's Panorama Turismo - Mare Italia , published in advance by ANSA. The queen of the Romagna Riviera scored an overall score of 3,697 votes, displacing Jesolo (the record holder for summer 2025), which is in close second place with 3,666 votes.
Emilia Romagna leads the way among the most desirable regions with an overall score of 1,913 votes, narrowly ahead of Sardinia with 1,906 votes and Sicily with 1,769 votes.
Returning to the destinations ranked third and fourth, according to JFC, two more destinations in Romagna remain in their positions as last year: Riccione, with 2,966 votes, and Cervia-Milano Marittima with 2,587 votes. In fifth place is a Tuscan destination, up five places from last year: Monte Argentario, with 2,528 votes. In sixth place is San Vito lo Capo with 2,274 votes, down one spot from last summer, followed by Porto Cervo , which maintains its ranking with 2,179 votes.
In eighth place, with 2,133 votes, Forte dei Marmi drops two spots, followed by another Tuscan destination: nearby Viareggio. This is the first newcomer for summer 2026, garnering a whopping 2,026 votes. Caorle follows in tenth place with 1,991 votes and two drops, followed by two other newcomers: Porto Cesareo in Puglia with 1,779 votes and Tropea in Calabria with 1,774 votes. In thirteenth place is Capri, which, with 1,554 votes, gains seven spots compared to summer 2025, followed by Sirolo in the Marche region, which gains four spots (1,502 votes), and newcomer Alba Adriatica (1,496 votes). Then there's Gallipoli, which with 1,495 votes drops three spots compared to last year; Senigallia (new entry) with 1,479 votes; Bellaria Igea Marina (1,413 votes and five lost positions); Alassio (new entry with 1,381 votes).
Taormina in Sicily (a new entry) closes the ranking of the top 20 Italian beach destinations with 1,372 votes. JFC also compiled thematic rankings.
Among the most relaxing and peaceful destinations, Tricase in Puglia stands out with 890 points, having missed the top 20 ranking last year, followed by Orbetello with 867 points (also missing last summer), while Orosei comes in third with 789 points.
The seaside destination perceived by Italians as the greenest and most sustainable is Santa Teresa di Gallura with a score of 866 points, followed by another Sardinian destination, Baunei with 854 points and the Campanian destination of Palinuro with 808 points (municipality of Centola).
The seaside destination considered by Italians to be the one best suited to the needs of families with children, Rimini remains in first place with 1,057 points, confirming its leadership of recent years. San Teodoro is second with 801 points (a new entry in this ranking), while Senigallia is in third place with 792 points, gaining six places compared to last year.
Again, the most youthful destination, and therefore the most fun for younger generations, is dominated by two towns in Romagna, which swap places with last year: Riccione takes first place with a score of 1,021 points, followed by Rimini with 801 points. Then come Gallipoli and Jesolo.
The most fashionable and trendy seaside destination is Porto Cervo with a score of 951 points (up five places compared to last year), closely followed by Jesolo with 931 points – it was at the top of the ranking last year – and Monte Argentario which with 890 points makes a real splash, having gained a total of seven places compared to last year.
Finally, the destinations with the best price/quality ratio (Soverato with a score of 856 points, Bellaria Igea Marina with 841 points and Sottomarina in the municipality of Chioggia with 840 points) and the most luxurious and also expensive ones (Forte dei Marmi with a score of 790 points, Capri with 765 points and Porto Cervo with 762 points).
