Sardinian agents on board the nightmare ship for the G7: «Unworthy treatment»

Cramped berths, poor food, on-board staff who don't speak Italian. The patch is no worse than the hole, but the new accommodation conditions reserved for the agents and soldiers of the Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza who must serve for the G7, the summit of the "Great People of the Earth", taking place from today to Borgo Egnazia, in Puglia. Among them also Sardinian policemen, in command from Cagliari.

«Initially they were assigned to the Greek cruise ship», explains the provincial secretary of the Silp CGIL, Gianluca De Simoni, «whose rental cost six million euros, which was then seized: staying there was truly unacceptable, due to the terrible hygienic conditions and the 'flooding of some parts of the floor. Now", around 500 of them, "are on the GNV ship, where they stay in tiny cabins and, in some cases, without portholes". And reports of poor services continue to arrive: the agents of the Cagliari police station are entrusted with security tasks, including escorting the entourages of the prime ministers and presidents of the most important countries on the planet.

Silp reports that the Ministry of the Interior and its departments had more than a year to organize the event: «We ask ourselves», adds De Simoni, «how it is possible that no one noticed or ascertained that the ship cruise identified was practically disused, or that no consideration was given to the fact that the event would take place close to the tourist season and that planning would be necessary to find suitable accommodation".

De Simoni also underlines that to this situation of serious hardship is added the uncertainty as to when overtime will actually be paid: «The colleagues from Cagliari on duty in the Police Headquarters, in specialties such as the Traffic Police and the Mobile Department» , he concludes, «are were called to carry out the delicate tasks of maintaining public order, security, escort and relay to the delegations of the participating nations and to the personalities present there: thanks for their commitment to date, unfortunately, is this treatment, unworthy places where sleep, meals of questionable quality, uncertainty about the payment of all overtime and, in general, a climate of disorganization and confusion".
