Saman Abbas was not torn to pieces after being killed: «A substantially intact body emerged, which has been well preserved considering the depth in which it was buried for over a year and a half. He was wearing the same clothes at the time of burial.'
These are the words of Gaetano Calogero Paci, the chief prosecutor of Reggio Emilia who spoke this morning about the discovery of the body which is presumed to be the 18-year-old Pakistani who disappeared on April 30, 2021 after opposing an arranged marriage.
The body, found on the advice of the girl's uncle Danish Hasnain, who is in prison and accompanied the investigators to that ruined farmhouse in Novellara, was unearthed yesterday evening, it was about three meters deep under a layer of debris and rubble .
Some elements allow for identification, but DNA testing is needed to ascertain that the body is actually Saman's.
“Now – added the prosecutor – it is a question of verifying the integrity of the internal organs, because autopsy-type investigations will be carried out through and on them to understand exactly the identity. Of course, the context in which it was found and also some other elements allow us to formulate a probability of identification, but the queen test is that of the DNA and only then will it be possible to say with certainty that it is Saman's body ».
The ruin where the body was recovered , seven hundred meters from the house where the Abbas family lived, is still under seizure; in fact, the operations of the experts will continue to take soil samples and other elements to be analysed.
Five people are accused of the crime: Saman's uncle and cousins are in jail in Italy, her father was arrested in recent days in Pakistan , the girl's mother is still on the run.
