The relatives of Saman Abbas , the 18-year-old Pakistani woman who disappeared from Novellara (Reggio Emilia) on 30 April 2021, after having rebelled against an arranged marriage and who, according to the Prosecutor's Office, would have been killed by her own relatives , were all sent to trial .

With the investigation closed, the gup Dario De Luca sent the girl's uncle to trial, Danish Hasnain and her two cousins, Ikram Ijaz and Nomanhulaq Nomanhulaq , arrested in recent months abroad, France and Spain, where they had fled.

His parents, Shabbar Abbas and Nazia Shaheen , father and mother, still fugitives in Pakistan, were also judged.

The uncle and the cousins of the young woman, through their lawyers, however, continue to proclaim themselves innocent : "After examining the papers, we can say that the allegations made to Danish are unfounded. He is innocent," said Domenico Noris Bucchi who defends Danish Hasnain.

"The thesis of the public prosecution is based on presumptions, an investigative hypothesis based on simple suspicions", continued Bucchi who then concluded: "Finally today we have a trial in which we are sure that we can prove that Danish is not responsible for the disputed facts. ".

The first hearing was set for February 10, 2023.
