After more than thirty years, the detective story about the murder of Franca Demichela, known in the news as the crime of the "lady in red", reopens.

The Turin prosecutor's office requested and obtained the reopening of the file to conduct investigations on findings unearthed at the time of the investigators; genetic profiles and traces of DNA preserved and today analysable through new scientific techniques that were not available at the time.

Five people entered in the register of suspects, formally in order to carry out the unrepeatable investigations.

They are the ex-husband of the victim Franco Capra and four nomads who had been seen in the company of the woman before the murder.

People already under investigation and then exonerated over the years.

The corpse of the victim, 48 years old at the time, was found among the rubbish on September 15, 1991 in Moncalieri, near the Piedmontese capital, under the viaduct of the ring road, by a homeless man.

Strangled, she was identified thanks to the report of the order of a boutique in the center of Turin, who recognized the dress from a photo in the newspaper.

Since then, for everyone, Franca Demichela became “the lady in red”. A never unsolved case, which the Turin prosecutor is now trying to reopen thanks to new investigative techniques.
