Close encounter with a she-bear for a pair of hunters in Giudicare, Trentino, during an excursion.

This morning around 6, the two young men came across the animal accompanied by a sleeping baby on the Mandrel path , which leads to Malga Avalina, at an altitude of 1,970 meters, upstream of the town of Roncone.

The she-bear – particularly aggressive precisely because she was with the cub – sensed their presence, got scared and started chasing the two men, who screamed and ran away. One of the two rushed along the return path, while the friend climbed up a tree, where the bear chased him and hooked him to a gaiter with a paw, making him fall to the ground . Subsequently the two bears moved away.

The boy, who fell on a rock, was injured but his life is not in danger.

The canine unit of the Forestry Corps intervened on the spot, which carried out the necessary inspections to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the episode.
