The petition to exclude Israeli writer Eshkol Nevo from "Libro Possibile," the literary festival held in July in Polignano and Vieste, has become a hot topic. Among the signatories are Archbishop Moscone and several local administrators.
According to the promoters, "Nevo has not expressed a clear and public distancing from the policies of the Israeli government and the devastation in Gaza."
The writer, however, says he's "ashamed" of Ben-Gvir—the minister at the center of controversy in recent days over videos mocking arrested Flotilla activists—and hopes that with the October elections, "Israel will choose change." The festival, however, confirms the invitation: "No exclusions, Nevo will be there, we don't equate a writer with the political choices of his country's government," the artistic director explained.
