Mismatches were found between the size of the animals registered in the National Database of Zootechnical Registries and the actual number of animals present, as around 40 adult animals were found to be absent and the presence of around 100 sheep aged over six months who were not identified and approximately 30 with incomplete identification.
Furthermore, a sheep farm was found not to be registered in the database, and the incorrect identification of around a hundred animals was ascertained: the veterinarians ordered the immediate blocking of movements to or from the activity.
Finally, in a company in Agrigento, the presence of 53 heads of sheep without the "accompanying document" was found (Form 4).
The police operations are linked to investigations following the execution of a precautionary measure and concern people linked to those arrested.
