Eight and a half years in prison. This is the sentence requested by the Padua prosecutor against Salvatore Corda, a pensioner originally from the province of Cagliari, on trial on charges of attempted murder for having attacked a neighbor with a stick in 2021, in Torreselle di Piombino, a town just outside of the Venetian city.

According to what was reported in the local press, the prosecution is convinced that the man "intended to kill" a 54-year-old of Romanian origin, who ended up in hospital after the attack.

For his part, immediately after the arrest, Corda justified himself in the interrogation before the investigating judge, as reported by the Mattino di Padova: «I defended my wife, he was drunk and threatened her with an axe».
