First the camping ban in the entire territories of Susa and Bussoleno, then the No Tav activists who moved to Venaus, then a new ordinance to ban camping in Venaus too .

The prefect is forced to work overtime to block the camping initiative announced today and for three days by No Tav activists together with representatives of the Askatasuna social centre .

The first ordinance issued by Turin Prefect Donato Carfagna prohibits "free camping throughout the entire Susa and Bussoleno area from midnight on Thursday, July 30th until 7 a.m. on Monday, August 3rd." It specifies that "prior notification is dispensed with, given the urgent need to protect public order and safety."

The prefect's orders were displayed on a street sign.

The activists then regrouped and moved to Venaus, where the march that led to the attack on the Chiomonte construction site and the police began last Saturday .

Thus, the prefect immediately thereafter issued a new ordinance that provides for the same ban on free camping throughout the municipality of Venaus until 7 a.m. on Monday, August 3.

The ordinance cites the presence at the Venaus campsite last Saturday of "hundreds of participants belonging to the extremist wing of the No TAV movement and anarchist groups." On that occasion, it adds, the approximately 7,000 marchers, after leaving the Venaus municipality and walking to State Road 25, split into two groups: the first, consisting of approximately 1,000 protesters, headed towards the Susa plain, where the two TAV construction sites, Traduerivi and San Didero, are located. Over 2,000 protesters reached the municipality of Giagione and took the Gallo Romano trail, heading for the Chiomonte TAV construction site. During the journey, several hundred protesters disguised themselves and, once they reached the Chiomonte basin, repeatedly attacked the TAV construction site, causing extensive damage to the structures and numerous injuries to police officers. At the end of the violent attacks - it is underlined - the troublemakers returned to the camp set up in Venaus".

The prefect also added that, following Saturday's events, law enforcement officers also found and seized "disguised clothing, blunt objects, pyrotechnics, and other materials used in the violent riots and damage to the TAV construction sites in the Susa Valley and the police personnel stationed there," at the Venaus campsite.

It also writes that "similar initiatives in the Susa Valley have been systematically marred by serious attacks on the construction sites of the high-speed railway line (TAV)" and that it takes into account the fact that "the actions carried out by the most intransigent members of the No TAV movement, both during organized demonstrations and in improvised forms, are likely to place strong pressure on the public order system protecting the construction site and have in the past resulted in highly hostile and actively obstructive illegal actions, also generating prejudice to the smooth progress of the work and worrying compromises of public order."

Law enforcement officers then asked the activists to leave the campsite and the area is now being patrolled by riot police .

But the No Tav protesters in Venaus are staying put: "Only camping is prohibited. We can eat, stand, sit, and lie down. But it's best not to pitch tents. We'll see in the next few hours," they explained.

Another order from Prefect Cafagna, starting 8 a.m. today and continuing until Sunday, prohibits "the possession, without valid reason, of objects and materials capable of concealing one's face, such as helmets, gas masks, respiratory masks, balaclavas, and objects potentially used as blunt instruments, smoke bombs, and explosive materials of any kind in the municipalities of Bruzolo, Bussoleno, Chiomonte, Giaglione, San Didero, and Susa."

A third ordinance, during the same period, prohibits "organized" pedestrian access to a series of roads, parking lots, rural areas, and paths near the TAV construction sites in the municipalities of Susa, Giaglione, and Chiomonte.
