Another setback for the trial in Italy of the four Egyptian 007s accused of kidnapping, torturing and killing Giulio Regeni in Cairo in February 2016 .

The judges of the Cassation have declared inadmissible the appeal of the Public Prosecutor of Rome against the decision of the GUP which on 11 April ordered, as already done by the Court of Assizes last October, the suspension of the proceedings by arranging new searches of the accused to whom to notify the documents .

According to the prosecutors in piazzale Clodio, it was necessary to get out of this "trial stasis" which brought the trial to an abrupt halt. The deputy prosecutor Sergio Colaiocco had requested an intervention of "clarity" to the stoats to overcome the provisions of the judge for the preliminary hearings which, referring to what was decided by the III Court of Assizes last October, ruled that the trial cannot go forward because there are no notifications to the accused . For the Prosecutor's Office, however, the four agents would have the guarantees of a fair trial and are aware of a criminal proceeding against them in the Regeni case .

Last April the judge, in light of the total closure of the Egyptian authorities in judicial collaboration, entrusted a new delegation to the carabinieri del Ros to carry out further research, updating the hearing to next 10 October. While the parents of the Friulian researcher launched an appeal via social media to identify the addresses of the four torturers: a post on Fb, published in three languages (Italian, English and Arabic), in which the photos of three defendants identified by the Ros.
