A nine-year-old girl died in Rome after eating a plate of gnocchi at a restaurant . The probable cause of death was an allergic reaction , thought to be to wheat.

The little girl felt ill immediately after the meal, consumed with her family in a restaurant, and was taken to the Casilino hospital with spasms, vomiting and difficulty breathing. Then her conditions worsened and she was taken to the Gemelli hospital where she died.

The facts date back to last Thursday. The doctors' attempts to save her life were in vain.
