Newborn in a basket on the street: he still had the umbilical cord attached
The baby was found by the carabinieri and is in good health
After a passer-by was reported, the carabinieri of Catania found a newborn baby on the street in via Rametta.
The baby was wrapped in a blanket, inside a basket, behind a crumbling wall: he still had the umbilical cord attached.
The carabinieri, after wrapping him in another clean blanket provided by a resident of the area, placed him in the car in service awaiting the arrival of the 118 doctors. The newborn was then taken by ambulance to the Garibaldi hospital . Nesima of Catania .
The doctors, after the first visit, found him to be in excellent health , arranging, as a precaution, to be admitted to the Neonatology ward where he will remain under observation.
Now we are investigating to trace the parents and reconstruct the story.
The Catania Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation into the case.
