The autopsy on the body of the newborn who died last Friday in Lucca does not clarify the causes, but seems to exclude the possibility of being faced with a case of Sids, sudden infant death. According to the Mobile Squad agents who are following the investigation, the little girl, one month old, could have ingested some substance through her breast milk that proved fatal for her.
And the mother, 21 years old, has been registered in the register of suspects by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Lucca for the hypothesis of the crime of manslaughter: an act required to allow the appointment of expert consultants. The decision was made by the Public Prosecutor in charge of the investigation.
The examination was performed at the Santa Chiara hospital in Pisa by the forensic doctor Marco Di Paolo together with a neonatology specialist, Vincenzo Nardini.
We are now waiting for the results of the toxicological and histological tests to clarify the causes of death.
