They were found by the police alone and abandoned in an area outside the ring road , in Rome. The conditions of the two little brothers , aged 4 and 6 , immediately appeared critical: undernourished, dirty, with wounds and scars on their bodies . The facts date back to 10 May.
Upon the arrival of the agents, a cry of fear: " We don't want to go back to our mother, we want ice cream ." The agents immediately took them to the emergency room of the Umberto I Polyclinic, from there they were admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit. The story was told by the hospital with a post published on Facebook : «Both had serious food problems. The malnutrition suffered by them was so acute that some tests suggested, due to the residues in the stomach , that they had eaten earth . The team of doctors and health workers activated around Paul and Peter (fictitious names) worked on different levels. Child neuropsychiatrists have studied the neurological aspect while thanks to the dedication of nutritionists and dietitians a personalized diet has been created for each of them».

The care and attention of the medical staff allowed a quick recovery for both. «Every day, Peter and Paul – continues the post – have shown signs of improvement. If at first they avoided making eye contact , over time and thanks to the affection they received, their trust grew and they even indulged in hugs . Little Pietro, despite being 4 years old, was unable to walk when he arrived in the emergency room. Over time and with the help of physiotherapists she learned to do it, to ride a scooter and also to dance. Their path of rebirth was illuminated by the generosity of the volunteers of the ARVAS association, by the many gifts they received and by the enormous affection of all the health professionals who took care of them".

After months of treatment, the two little brothers were transferred to a family home. Their health is good and they are ready to put the past behind them and start over. "They're adoptable! We wish our two little angels to soon have a family that loves them unconditionally and guarantees them a future full of love, joy and satisfaction. After what they went through in their early years, no one deserves it more than they do. We sincerely thank all the doctors, nurses, volunteers and staff who dedicated all the professionalism and love possible to him and made this happy ending possible ", concludes the Polyclinic on Facebook.
