Tragedy this morning in Reggio Emilia where a 69 year old farmer died following a road accident.

It happened just before 8am in via del Gobellino, in the hamlet of Gavassa, in the Reggio countryside.

A milk truck collided with the tractor driven by the man, the owner of a company, who was thrown onto the asphalt. The tractor overturned due to the devastating impact and fatally crushed the man.

The 118 alarm was immediately sent to the scene. An ambulance, a medical vehicle and an air ambulance took off from the Maggiore hospital in Parma, but there was nothing more that could be done for the man, every attempt to resuscitate him was vain. The 69-year-old died instantly.

Also on site were the firefighters, the ASL Occupational Medicine staff (who at the moment did not see any elements to classify it as an accident at work) and the local police.

The investigators - coordinated by the magistrate on duty at the Reggio prosecutor's office - are investigating to reconstruct the dynamics and ascertain any responsibilities.

From initial findings, the tractor was turning left onto a country road when the milk truck, in an attempt to overtake it, hit it violently.
